IT Infrastructure Refresh Case Study for Francis Holland Senior School

Overview

Delivering a modern, virtualised IT infrastructure to support flexible learning and long‑term growth in a leading independent school.

Francis Holland School in Regent’s Park is a high‑performing independent school for girls, educating 460 students aged 11 to 18. With a strong academic reputation to maintain, the school recognised the need to modernise its ICT infrastructure to support both teaching and administrative services.

The existing environment required significant improvement to meet growing technology demands. The school set out to create a resilient, scalable infrastructure capable of supporting future applications, enhancing system reliability and reducing the burden on internal IT support.

Krome Technologies was engaged to design and implement a complete infrastructure refresh. This IT Infrastructure Refresh Case Study demonstrates how Krome delivered a future‑proof solution aligned to the school’s development goals, improving performance, flexibility and user experience.

Virtualised Infrastructure & ICT Modernisation

As part of this education IT infrastructure case study, Krome designed and deployed a fully virtualised environment to support the school’s current and future technology needs.

The solution included upgrades to LAN and WAN infrastructure, core servers, storage and backup systems, alongside the implementation of a VMware virtual platform. Centralised Dell Storage, Aerohive (Extreme Networks) wireless networking and a Palo Alto Networks firewall were integrated to create a secure, high‑performance environment.

The solution provides improved reliability, enhanced system performance and the ability to scale as the school’s requirements evolve. Remote desktop access now enables staff and students to securely access resources both on‑site and off‑site, supporting more flexible teaching and learning approaches.
