Palo Alto Networks Case Study: Stephenson Harwood

Overview

Enhancing security, visibility and control across a global law firm using Palo Alto Networks’ next‑generation firewalls.

Stephenson Harwood is an international, full‑service law firm operating across Europe and Asia, with more than 600 staff supporting clients in highly regulated sectors. Protecting confidential data and maintaining strict control over network activity are critical to the firm’s operations.

As part of a major London office relocation, Stephenson Harwood identified an opportunity to modernise its network security infrastructure. Legacy firewalls no longer provided sufficient visibility into application usage or the level of internal control required to manage modern, encrypted and cloud‑based applications.

Krome Technologies was appointed to support the firm’s infrastructure relocation and deliver a next‑generation security platform. This Palo Alto Networks case study shows how Krome helped Stephenson Harwood strengthen network security while gaining granular visibility and centralised control across its global environment.

Next‑Generation Firewall & Application‑Level Control

As part of this Palo Alto Networks case study, Krome designed and implemented next‑generation firewalls to replace Stephenson Harwood’s legacy perimeter security systems.

The new solution enabled deep inspection and identification of applications running across the network, including those able to bypass traditional port‑based firewalls. This allowed IT teams to monitor, manage and restrict applications such as remote access tools, collaboration platforms and encrypted web traffic that previously posed security and compliance risks.

With centralised management, Stephenson Harwood can now monitor and enforce security policies across multiple international offices from its London headquarters. The result is enhanced protection of sensitive legal data, improved compliance controls and far greater visibility into how the firm’s network is used.
