PRTG in Practice: Sensors, Alerts, and Easy Wins

In this session, Mark Gardner (Senior Technical Consultant) will take you through the essential monitoring features in PRTG, showing you how to get up and running quickly and uncover valuable insights from your infrastructure with minimal setup.

Whether you’re new to PRTG or just want to fine-tune your existing deployment, this session focuses on easy wins that can deliver immediate visibility and impact. Join us to learn how to get more out of PRTG and start building smarter, more effective monitoring strategies.

You’ll leave with a clearer view of how to monitor your environment effectively—without needing hours of configuration.

Session Overview:

  • Setting up common sensors (Ping, HTTP, CPU, Disk space)
  • Creating device groups and views for better organisation
  • Configuring alerts, thresholds, and email/SMS notifications
  • Using basic reporting tools for audits and reviews
  • Building simple dashboards with PRTG Maps
  • Adding and configuring custom sensors (PowerShell, SNMP, API-based)
