Dell EMC PowerStore Family Array

The ground-breaking Dell EMC PowerStore achieves new levels of operational simplicity and agility, utilising a container-based architecture, advanced storage technologies, and intelligent automation to unlock the power of your data.

Based on a scale-out architecture and hardware-accelerated advanced data reduction, PowerStore is designed to deliver enhanced resource utilisation and performance that keeps pace with application and system growth.

Dell EMC PowerStore

Dell PowerStore is designed with two purpose-built platforms. The 2U, two-node, dual socket Intel® Xeon® platform is used for the PowerStore 1000, 3000, 5000, 7000, and 9000 models. The 2U, two-node single-socket Intel Xeon platform is used for the PowerStore 500 model. PowerStore provides a data-centric, intelligent, and adaptable infrastructure that supports both traditional and modern workloads.

  • Any workload – single architecture for physical, virtual, and container-based apps and databases. Designed for “6 9s” availability2
  • Performance optimised – end-to-end NVMe design is up to 7X faster3 than previous arrays with up to 3X better response time.4
  • Scale-up and scale out – independently add capacity or processing power.
  • Efficiency without compromise – always-on inline data reduction with guaranteed 4:1 average DRR5

  • Programmable infrastructure – end-to-end automation streamlines IT and DevOps
  • Autonomous appliance – built-in machine learning optimises resources
  • Proactive healthy analytics – smart monitoring reduces risk and predicts needs

  • Flexible architecture – container-based software stack enables application mobility
  • Flexible deployment – modernise the core, edge and cloud without disruption
  • Flexible consumption – choice, predictability and investment protection with pay-per-use solutions and data-in-place upgrades

The PowerStore platform has a flexible design capable of meeting the requirements of multiple different storage applications with support for high availability. The design includes two major configurations:

PowerStore T model appliances: Serve Block and File services, and the software stack is deployed directly on the system.

PowerStore X model appliances: Serve Block services, and a hypervisor is installed on the system. The system software stack is deployed on the hypervisor, and the hypervisor enables deployment of VMs and applications within the PowerStore hardware.

Dell EMC PowerStore T

PowerStore T models provide organisations with all the benefits of an enterprise unified storage platform for block, file and vVol data, while enabling flexible growth with the intelligent scale-up and scale-out capability of appliance clusters.

Intelligent, scalable storage for today’s most demanding workloads:

  • NVMe all-flash or SCM optimises performance
  • “Always on” data reduction with 4:1 guarantee
  • Native support for block, file, vVols, containers
  • Scale up and out to add performance or capacity independently
  • Anytime Upgrade keeps PowerStore continuously modern without disruption

Dell EMC PowerStore X

Utilising the proven capabilities of VMware ESXi, PowerStore X models with AppsON provide the unique ability to host data-intensive and storage applications directly on the PowerStore system with a storage-based virtualisation environment, with the flexibility of seamless movement of applications between the storage system and external VMware servers.

Flexibility to run applications directly on PowerStore with AppsON

  • NVMe all-flash or SCM optimises performance
  • “Always on” data reduction with 4:1 guarantee
  • Built-in VMware hypervisor supports external hosts and local apps at the same time for unprecedented mobility, operational consistency
  • Anytime Upgrade keeps PowerStore continuously modern without disruption
