Krome’s Charity Pub Quiz for Children’s Hospice Shooting Star Chase

Last Friday evening Krome hosted a charity pub quiz evening raising a total of £1,800 for local Children’s Hospice Charity Shooting Star Chase

Krome have committed to being a corporate sponsor for local Children’s Hospice Charity Shooting Star Chase, with our first fundraising event taking place on Friday in the form of a Pub Quiz held at The Pelican Pub in Addlestone.

Shooting Star Chase is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. The charity has two hospices Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford, providing support for families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

Shooting Star Chase supports 700 families living across Surrey and London, who face truly unimaginable circumstances. Their support is available 365 days a year from their two purpose built children’s hospices as well as providing support to families in their own homes with their Hospice at Home service. The services they provide cost approximately £10 million a year with only around 10% of this being government funded.

Krome have committed to support Shooting Star Chase for the immediate future, devising a calendar of events from now until the end of 2019, including fundraising, challenge events and volunteering plans.

Carol Griffin, Corporate Relationship Manager at Shooting Star Chase said, “We are thrilled to be benefiting from a partnership with Krome. Our corporate partners are a lifeline for Shooting Star Chase; working tirelessly to fundraise through all sorts of challenges and events, as well as giving up their time to volunteer. We are truly thankful as it’s becoming increasingly challenging to raise the vital funds needed to help support and care for families facing the most unimaginable of circumstances – so Krome’s commitment to us makes such a difference.”

On the night of the quiz, Krome donated £10 per person that attended with a total of 62 people participating, in addition to this Krome sold 500 raffle tickets prior to the event and throughout the evening; prizes included a Sonos One with Alexa, an Amazon Echo Dot, an iPod, a Tile Mate, a Dome Speaker, a meal for two at the Pelican, along with a host of other prizes. Several of the prizes were kindly donated by some of Krome’s vendor partners including Paessler, Dell, Thycotic and Dell Financial Services, along with the Pelican who generously donated the meal voucher. Donation buckets were also provided, with the total amount raised by the event culminating at a staggering £1,800.

“We are absolutely delighted to have raised such a considerable amount of money for the charity with our first organised fundraising event for them, the quiz night was a brilliant way of really getting our team on board with supporting the charity, we’re looking forwarded to working closely with Shooting Star Chase in the future and hope that our fundraising efforts can really help make a difference,” stated Rupert Mills, Krome’s Managing Director.
