Equipment Assessment.

Equipment is assessed in accordance with the WEEE directive regulations and is divided into the appropriate categories:

Re-use. Equipment is assessed as suitable for re-use as per the WEEE Regulations. Such equipment is likely to be less than three years old and will be subject to data purge & refurbishment. Any equipment that is re-used is recorded on our bespoke disposal portal and profit from the resale is credited to you.

Recycling. Items assessed as unsuitable for re-use are treated and recycled in accordance with WEEE Regulations. These are also recorded on the disposal portal for you.

Data Destruction.

Protecting our client’s information is paramount to Krome, and as such we take data destruction extremely seriously. All incoming data bearing products are kept in secure quarantine for 14 days before data destruction commences, this allows clients a grace period to retrieve the data should they need to. Once the 14 day period is over the units are wiped inaccordance to the GCHQ Communications-Electronic Security Group (CESG) in their INFOSEC Memorandum No 5.

Baseline Standard, is applied as a minimum, this involves de-partitioning hard drive units followed by an overwriting procedure, reformatting and scan using approved software.

Enhanced Standard, (required for highly sensitive data) is available on request for an additional charge.

Our Enhanced Standard wipe uses Blancco® Data Cleaner, the world’s leading secure data destruction tool. Blancco® is accredited to HMG IA Standard No. 5 – Secure Sanitisation of Protectively Marked or Sensitive Information, Issue 3.1, October 2009. Blancco® erases data on hard disk drives to the higher and lower available standard and specification globally.

If, for whatever reason, a hard drive is unsuitable for secure data erasure we will physically destroy the unit in-house.

All data wipes are recorded and loaded into the Disposal Portal where you can download your data destruction certificates.
